In 2018, Soil Science Australia will be announcing community based awards to recognise individuals, community groups and organisations that have proven excellence in the undertaking of soil related activities, or the communication of the importance to soils.
Nominees do not have to be members of Soil Science Australia. These awards are in the spirit acknowledging those who might have gone unnoticed. Nominations will need to demonstrate the outline of activities and the impact of these. As the specific awards are announced and nominations called for we will provide more detail here.
Have an idea for an award or nominee? Please get in touch.
Soil Science Australia is committed to recognising those contributing to soils and soil science at the highest level. Australia Day Honours are the highest level.
The Australian honours system celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of extraordinary Australians in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour. It's about recognising those people in the community whose service and contributions have had the effect of making a significant difference to Australian life or, more broadly, to humanity at large.
Recipients are people from all spheres of the community. Anyone can nominate a living Australian or permanent resident for an award. Nominations can be submitted at any time during the year.
If there is someone you believe should be nominated and recognised for their work in the Soils and/or Soil Science field, please get in contact with Soil Science Australia and we will work with you in the support of the nomination if deemed suitable.
