For Students & Educators

Soil Science Australia ensures educational opportunities at all levels, and is committed to the development of soil science teaching material.

Students are our future

Soil Science Australia recognises that students are our future. Soil science does not exist as a specific degree within the Australian curriculum. Soil Science Australia is committed to providing activities and teaching materials for use in the Australian curriculum. Soil Science Australia works closely with school teachers and university lecturers to shape pathways and education programs leading to a soil science career. See the from tertiary education to graduate soil scientist page for more details.

Soil Science Australia also knows it is never too late to learn, or to become a student. We are committed to the provision of ongoing professional development and training activities, including providing valuable mentoring opportunities via an online community of learning. See the for Individuals page for more details.

Soil Science Australia assembled the National Soils Education Committee to coordinate its efforts in education. This committee works closely with various teaching bodies, interfaces with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, and is represented on the Australian Soil Network Working Group 6 for Education and Extension.
