Has anyone looked into the pro’s and con’s of using bio-soilds rather than lime as a soil acidity amelioration technique in agricultural soils?
I realise the NV of bio-solids will be much lower than a typical lime source but wondered if other positives such as nutrients and OM would outweigh this to a certain extent?
Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.
as you mention the other nutrients in the biosolids which can be beneficial can also lead to more acidity. We have done research using organic amendments that shows that the pH gain is often short-lived (weeks) due to nitrification of mineralised N from the OM. I suspect biosolids would experience the same issue.
