Clear or abrupt textural B horizon
Profiles with this feature have also been described as being texture contrast soils or duplex soils. The term duplex is inherited from the duplex primary profile form concept used in the Factual Key (Northcote, 1979). In terms of texture contrast, the duplex concept is not as strict as applies to the Clear or abrupt textural B horizon.
Only three soil orders have a Clear of abrupt textural B horizon: these are Kurosols, Sodosols and Chromosols.
