Soil Science Australia’s Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) accreditation seal is the mark of trust, expertise and excellence in soil science. Engaging a CPSS helps reduce risk, increase certainty and achieve better soil and land management outcomes. This profile is one in a series featuring new CPSS members. 

Mr Savage’s journey toward becoming a CPSS was driven by multiple factors. He sought recognition for his technical expertise and professional diligence, aiming to offer clients reliable and assured advice and highlight the importance of soil in environmental and Project outcomes.

“This certification not only sets a benchmark for my capabilities but also helps differentiate my advice as reliable, suitable and technically informed” said Mr Savage.

“Achieving CPSS status was a key professional goal. I think having the CPSS accreditation symbolises my dedication to excellence in the field and my desire to ensure the field of soil science gets the recognition and consideration it deserves” Mr Savage said.

Over the next few years, Mr Savage plans to pursue additional Registered Soil Practitioner (RSP) accreditations in areas such as erosion and sediment control and soil survey, further expanding his technical expertise and professional development.

Mr Savage is currently working at Attexo, supporting the energy, resource and infrastructure sectors. At Attexo, Mr Savage now uses his CPSS accreditation to enhance client confidence in his soil-related assessments and recommendations. His role primarily involves soil and land suitability assessments, erosion and sediment control, and broader environmental evaluations.

Mr Savage’s contributions at Attexo have been instrumental in the company’s delivery of comprehensive environmental services. His work supports Attexo’s mission to provide unambiguous and defensible reporting that meets regulatory requirements and facilitates streamlined compliance for various projects.
