Registered Soil Practitioner - Acid Sulfate Soil Accreditation

The Registered Soil Practitioner – Acid Sulfate Soil is a mark of trust that soil practitioners have demonstrated a high level of technical competence in the assessment and / or management of acid sulfate soils.

 

Who should apply?

Applicants may be professionals that work with disturbed acid sulfate soil or who assess compliance with national and state / territory standards for the assessment and management of disturbed acid sulfate soil.

Pathways

There are two pathways to RSP – Acid Sulfate Soil Accreditation:

  • Consultant – soil professionals involved in the preparation of acid sulfate soil investigation on reports and acid sulfate soil management plans.
  • Regulation and evaluation – for people who assess and evaluate acid sulfate soil investigation reports and acid sulfate soil management plans.

There are two pathways to RSP – Acid Sulfate Soil Accreditation:

  • Regulation and evaluation – for people who assess and evaluate acid sulfate soil investigation reports and acid sulfate soil management plans.

What’s needed to become accredited?

To be successful for Registered Soil Practitioner – Acid Sulfate Soils (RSP-ASS) accreditation, applicants must demonstrate to the RSP-ASS Assessment Panel that they have:

  • A minimum of five years substantial workforce experience in the assessment and/or management of acid sulfate soils.
  • A proficient level of technical and theoretical competence across all of the criteria listed in the relevant standards for their chosen pathway (consultant or regulation and evaluation).
  • The required competencies can be found in the RSP-Acid Sulfate Soil Standards – regulation and evaluation.

Important note for CPSS members: Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) members represent the highest level of recognised accreditation by Soil Science Australia, and SSA recognises that CPSS members have varying areas of expertise, including acid sulfate soils. Any CPSS member with an expertise in acid sulfate soil is welcome to contact us for further information.

4 Steps to accreditation

1) The RSP-Acid Sulfate Soil is assessed against the RSP-ASS Standards (for consultants and for regulation and assessment).  You can test your eligibility and if you feel you meet these standards, apply now.

3) Submit your application.  You must pay a non-refundable fee in order for your application to be assessed. 

4) Within one week you will receive notification that your application has been received and in due course you will receive notification of you application outcome.
