RSP – Acid Sulfate Soil Standards

These Standards describe the knowledge and skills expected of an individual to gain entry to and, along with other accreditation requirements, meet the minimum requirements for a Registered Soil Practitioner – Acid Sulfate Soil.

  REGULATOR CONSULTANT
  Section 1 – Regulations and standards
  1.1 Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory requirements and national guidance in acid sulfate soil assessment and management.
  Section 2 – Assessment
2.1 Demonstrated capacity to assess the appropriateness of a soil sampling strategy utilising knowledge of a site’s geomorphology, hydrology and pedology as it applies to acid sulfate soils. Demonstrated capacity to design and undertake an appropriate soil sampling strategy utilising your knowledge of a site’s geomorphology, hydrology and pedology as it applies to acid sulfate soils.
2.2 Demonstrated capacity to assess the appropriateness of acid sulfate soil laboratory tests and the interpretation of these results to assess hazards arising from acid sulfate soil materials. Demonstrated capacity to select appropriate acid sulfate soil laboratory tests and interpret the results to assess hazards arising from acid sulfate soil materials, and document these within an acid sulfate soil assessment report.
Section 3 – Management planning
3.1 Demonstrated capacity to assess the appropriateness of options, as part of an acid sulfate soil management plan, to avoid or mitigate impacts arising from acid sulfate soil disturbance. Demonstrated capacity to develop effective options, as part of an acid sulfate soil management plan, to avoid or mitigate impacts arising from acid sulfate soil disturbance.
Section 4 – Monitoring and contingency planning
4.1 Demonstrated capacity to assess the appropriateness of a monitoring plan to assess the effectiveness of strategies used as part of an acid sulfate soil management plan, to avoid or mitigate impacts arising from acid sulfate soil disturbance, including closeout reports. Demonstrated capacity to develop a monitoring plan to assess the effectiveness of strategies used as part of an acid sulfate soil management plan, to avoid or mitigate impacts arising from acid sulfate soil disturbance, including contingency procedures.
