Soil Science Australia (SSA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with SoilCQuest—an Australian organisation leading in soil carbon research and education.
The collaboration aims to have SoilCQuest’s comprehensive soil carbon learning program recognised as a pathway to achieving SSA’s Registered Soil Practitioner (RSP) – Soil Carbon accreditation.
SoilCQuest has been at the forefront of developing education opportunities that empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively understand how soil carbon is built, measured, monitored and managed.
“Our training focuses on practical and research-based approaches to soil carbon sequestration—a critical component in addressing climate change—whilst also promoting viable climate-smart agriculture and land-management practices,” said SoilCQuest CEO, Andrew Bruem.
“Recognising the importance of an industry standard in soil carbon understanding and practice, it is befitting that our Growing Soil Carbon Masterclass can be developed following the close alignment our introductory course has to the RSP – Soil Carbon accreditation standard.
“This synergy enables participants in our more advanced course, the Masterclass, to use their training as a stepping stone towards achieving accreditation, which will enhance their professional credentials, contributing to the growing and maturing field of soil carbon management,” Mr Bruem said.
As there is increasing focus on opportunities relating to income-generation from carbon farming, the partnership is also expected to benefit those seeking to invest in soil carbon sequestration projects.
Australian farmers and land managers will have greater assuredness that they are obtaining fit-for-purpose advice relating to carbon sequestration opportunities on the land they own or manage.
“Our partnership with SoilCQuest represents a valuable opportunity to expand the reach and impact of our RSP accreditation program,” said Michael Walker, CEO of Soil Science Australia.
“Soil Science Australia has been involved with content review of both SoilCQuest’s introductory course and Masterclass, to align our accreditation competencies and knowledge requirements.
“Together we are helping to build a community of skilled and knowledgeable practitioners who are equipped to tackle the challenges of soil carbon management and contribute to global climate solutions,” he said.
