Professor Petra Marschner
It is with a heavy heart that Soil Science Australia share with you news of Professor Petra Marschner’s passing.
Petra passed in her home on Saturday 3rd August. While Petra’s health had not been the best of late, this will still be very much a shock to all who had a connection with Petra.
Petra has been a long-standing academic staff member at the University of Adelaide since 2001, after having received her doctorate from the University of Göttingen, Germany in 1993.
Without a doubt, the passing of Petra leaves a significant void in the global soils and plant nutrition science community.
Petra was a prolific author of many high-quality research publications and several text books including the authoritative ‘Marschner’s Mineral Nutrition of Plants‘
Petra also taught and mentored numerous postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Our thoughts are with Petra’s family, students, friends and colleagues at this time.
Petra’s Funeral has been confirmed for Friday the 20th of September at the Florey Chapel at Centennial Park (760 Goodwood Road, Pasadena). The Service will also be live-streamed and recorded for those who are unable to make it in person: https://fulhamfunerals.com.au/live-streams
