In this Soil Cooperative Research Centre (Soil CRC) video, Mark Morrison (Charles Sturt University), Chris Wilmot (Soil CRC PhD student) and Kirsty McKenzie (Charles Sturt University) presents findings from a research program exploring how markets can better reward soil stewardship. It explores consumer attitudes, value chain dynamics and certification systems that could support price premiums and market access for farmers adopting soil stewardship practices. The webinar covers willingness to pay, trust in certification, governance of food labelling, and the design of soil certification schemes, including graded approaches and lower-cost auditing options. It also outlines barriers such as low consumer awareness, fragmented schemes and unclear standards, and highlights opportunities for better coordination, policy support and use of soil data. #
