Nitrogen, deep phosphorus and potassium: a picture says a thousand words – QLD (Booklet)
This booklet from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) outlines paddock-scale field trials evaluating nitrogen and deep phosphorus strategies under the RiskWi$e initiative in Queensland. Conducted with 30 growers across multiple sites, the trials are assessing nutrient responses in wheat, using satellite imagery, yield mapping and on-farm machinery to capture crop and soil variability. This paper explores the results of three of these trials, situated at Wallumbilla, Surat and St George. Preliminary results show strong biomass and yield responses to deep phosphorus at low-phosphorus sites, particularly when combined with nitrogen. In almost all trials there was no economic response to nitrogen, noting data is still being collated, and statistical analysis is yet to be completed. While the content focuses on Queensland, the findings are relevant to other Australian cropping regions [PDF 1.6 KB, 16 pages].#
This is a carefully curated database of important soil resources. The data base is not exhaustive but rather a library of the resources we believe are the most useful for the audience. Each resource has been added after careful consideration against our selection criteria, including but not limited to its scientific validity, accessibility, and readability. The library generally does not include most academic research papers but may include some open-source papers written in accessible English.
