This Soils for Life manual explains multispecies cropping and how diverse crop mixtures can be used to improve soil health and farm resilience. It describes how growers can sow combinations of species such as cereals, legumes and brassicas to perform complementary roles in the paddock, including improving ground cover, increasing root diversity, fixing nitrogen, cycling nutrients and supporting soil biology. The guide includes grower case studies and videos from Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia plus an additional video on Cover cropping with Scott McCalman and Joel Williams [11:09]. While the examples draw largely from mixed farming enterprises in southern Australia, the principles will be relevant to other Australian regions seeking to build soil function and system diversity. #
