About accreditation ethics, rules, conduct and disclosures

Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct #

Soil science professionals accredited by Soil Science Australia (referred to in this document as ‘accredited soil science professionals’), whether in the CPSS or RPS accreditation schemes, are required to adopt both the Code of Ethics and the Rules of Conduct.

The Code of Ethics is a public statement of the principles, values and behaviour expected of those are accredited by Soil Science Australia. The Rules of Conduct are an interpretation and expansion of the Code of Ethics.

Accredited soil science professionals who breach any part of the Code or Rules can face disciplinary action potentially leading to suspension or termination of their accreditation in accordance with the complaints and appeals process.

Disclosure #

When applying to the program, applicants are asked to disclose matters related to past professional conduct, ethics, and integrity and will also complete the same questionnaire every two years when they submit their record of OPD activity.

The questions relate to any refusal or revocation of licences, permits or certification; insurance claims; disciplinary action or dismissals; and new and ongoing legal proceedings. Answering ‘yes’ to any of the questions does not mean the application will be unsuccessful, or a current accreditation revoked.
