Accreditation consideration and exceptions

People may request consideration of some of the requirements of accreditation in recognition that professional lives can be interrupted or otherwise limited for a variety for reasons including health, family, travel, or in seeking to improve work/life balance.

Requests for consideration can be submitted using the consideration form.

The Accreditation Board will assess each case individually and extenuating circumstances will be dealt with at the discretion of the Board. No consideration will be given to members that have not met other accreditation requirements unless genuine extenuating circumstances exist.

Consideration may be sought for the following reasons.

Application process: request for consideration regarding experience

People working part-time or who have significant breaks in their employment may take longer to be able to meet their experience requirements. Consideration will be given to experience based on information provided about work history, timeframes and what consideration is sought.

Request for change in Ongoing Professional Development hours

Consideration may be requested from those who cannot obtain sufficient hours of OPD. The request should outline the number of hours the request relates to, the extenuating circumstances and provide a OPD diary showing available hours.

Request for leave of absence and fee relief

Requests for leave of absence and fee relief can be granted for a maximum of 2 years. You must re-join and fully comply with accreditation requirements within this period to have accreditation re-instated otherwise re-entry will require a new application.

Other

There is also provision on the form to request for consideration for reasons not listed above.
